VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) -- Humberto Sosa hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to help lead the Leones de Yucatan to a 4-1 win over the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
The home run by Sosa scored Francisco Hernandez. The home run came after an RBI single by Jesus Valdez that gave the Leones the lead earlier in the inning.
In a classic pitchers' duel, Yucatan's Yoanner Negrin and Veracruz's Manuel Flores delivered great starts. Negrin went seven innings, allowing one run and three hits. He also struck out six and walked two. Flores went seven innings, allowing one run and five hits. He also struck out three and walked two.
Ronald Belisario (2-2) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Ramon Delgado (2-3) took the loss in the Mexican League game. Jairo Asencio retired the side in order for his 15th save of the season.
Yucatan improved to 5-2 against Veracruz this season.
