PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Nolan Gorman hit a run-scoring single in the eighth inning, leading the Peoria Chiefs to a 2-1 win over the Clinton LumberKings on Sunday.

Rayder Ascanio scored on the play after he led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.

In the bottom of the fourth, Peoria took the lead on a solo home run by Luken Baker. Clinton answered in the next half-inning when Dimas Ojeda hit a solo home run.

Robbie Gordon (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Adonis De La Cruz (3-3) took the loss in the Midwest League game. Kodi Whitley retired the side in order for his eighth save of the season.

Ojeda homered and doubled for the LumberKings.
