JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Jake Gatewood and Lucas Erceg connected on back-to-back homers in the sixth inning, leading the Biloxi Shuckers to an 8-6 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Friday.

Jacksonville had a runner on first in the bottom of the ninth, but a runner was thrown out to end the game as Jon Olczak earned his first save of the season.

Gatewood hit a two-run shot before Erceg hit a solo shot as part of a five-run inning that gave the Shuckers an 8-4 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jacksonville scored on a sacrifice fly by J.C. Millan that brought home Brian Schales. In the following at-bat, Sharif Othman scored on a ground out to cut the Biloxi lead to 8-6.

Biloxi starter Thomas Jankins (9-5) picked up the win despite allowing six runs and seven hits over six innings. Opposing starter Max Duval (2-9) took the loss in the Southern League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Monte Harrison singled three times, driving in a run and also scoring one for the Jumbo Shrimp.

With the win, Biloxi improved to 9-3 against Jacksonville this season.
