BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- David Thompson homered twice and had three hits, and Chris Flexen allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 6-2 on Sunday.

Flexen (2-1) picked up the win after he struck out eight while allowing one run.

Binghamton started the scoring in the first inning when Champ Stuart scored on a pickoff and Matt Oberste hit a sacrifice fly.

After Binghamton added two runs in the fourth, the Fightin Phils cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Zack Coppola hit an RBI single, scoring Malquin Canelo.

The Rumble Ponies added to their lead in the eighth when Thompson hit a two-run home run.

Mario Sanchez (4-2) went six innings, allowing four runs and six hits in the Eastern League game. He also struck out two and walked three.

Carlos Tocci tripled and singled twice for the Fightin Phils.
