KODAK, Tenn. (AP) -- Alex Call hit a two-run single in the sixth inning, leading the Birmingham Barons to an 11-2 win over the Tennessee Smokies on Friday.
The single by Call, part of a four-run inning, gave the Barons a 4-2 lead before Bryant Flete scored on a wild pitch and Call scored on a double later in the inning.
The Barons later scored five runs in the ninth to finish off the blowout.
Alfredo Gonzalez doubled three times and singled, driving in five runs for Birmingham.
Zach Thompson (1-0) got the win with three innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Preston Morrison (1-1) took the loss in the Southern League game.
